Center for Korean Studies of the State Pedagogical University of Russia named after A.I. Herzen

Center for Korean Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies, State Pedagogical University of Russia named after A.I. Herzen, was established on October 7, 2019.

The public name of the center is the “Herzen Center for Korean Studies” (HCKS)

The main goals and objectives of the Center:

  1. Developing Korean Studies educational programs and research projects at the University.
  2. Establishing scientific and educational relations in the field of Korean Studies with the universities and research institutions in Russia and abroad, paying special attention to the countries of the Korean Peninsula.
  3. Promotion of cultural exchange between the University and relevant institutions of the countries of the Korean peninsula.
  4. Expanding Herzen Center for Korean Studies achievements in the field of education and scientific research to the broader audience in Russia and abroad.
  5. Development of human resources for educational and research programs in the field of Korean Studies.

Current projects of the Center:

  1. Opening the “Korea Corner”. (A joint project with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg and the Korea Foundation, the Republic of Korea).
  2. Collecting a reference library of the Center.
  3. Establishing partnerships relations with the Literature Translation Institute of Korea and other Korean, Russian and international organizations.
  4. Organizing various events in the field of Korean Studies.
